Children in Year 2 and 4 are fortunate enough to work alongside the school caterers Juniper Ventures to carry out a cake workshop. Children learnt the science of cakes where they were placed in groups to make a different flavour cake. The children mixed their ingredients, grated their vegetables and poured out the mixtures into trays ready to be baked.. The cakes incorporated different flavours including: chocolate and beetroot, lemon and courgette, carrot cake and raspberry and coconut. Each child was then able to take home a slice of the four different cakes they had baked to share with their families. We had lots of fun and learnt lots about what is involved in the science behind baking.
